A winding for a transformer or choke coil is disclosed, wherein succesive turns are arranged onto eachother in radial direction. To provide for optimal cooling conditions axially extending cooling channels are provided by placing spacers between the succesive turns of the winding. To provide for a limited volume, the turns are adjacent to eachother in the axial direction are located directly onto eachother without interspacing.
