摘要 A method of treating glass light waveguide ends, involves mechanically polishing a light waveguide end and thereafter reducing the reflectance of the light waveguide end by vaporizing at least some glass at the light waveguide end by use of a laser beam directed on it. The laser beam has a wavelength in the range of 0.1 to 1.5 mu m or in the range of 8.5 to 11.0 mu m, and is directed at the light waveguide end in repetitions of 2 to 1000 times. The laser beam has a peak power in the range of 0.1 to 100 watts, and has a pulse duration of less than one half second. The spot size of the laser beam on the light waveguide end is less than 125 mu m.
