PURPOSE: To provide a synchronous generator of a signal in an intermediate layer such as a transport or multiplexing layer of a multilayered compressed video signal. CONSTITUTION: An encoding terminal of a system includes not only a device which stores a time stamp reference such as a counted value from a counter 23 of modulo K but also a device for time stamp of a difference which is updated by the passage time of each (for example, multiplexing) circuit at the time, when a signal passes this circuit. In a reception terminal of the system, a modem 16 has a reverse function of a modem 15. Data from the modem 16 is supplied to an inverse transport processor 18, and this processor 18 supplies a compressed video signal, formatted in accordance with the protocols of the system to a rate buffer 17. The rate buffer 17 supplies the compressed video signal to a restoration device, when requested. |
