PURPOSE:To prevent infinite analog dubbing and to enable the plural times of digital dubbing at a digital VTR by digitally recording a video signal to which copyright information concerning the presence/absence of copyright protection is added. CONSTITUTION:A digital signal recording and reproducing device 1 is composed of a recording system A composed of an AGC circuit 2, A/D conversion circuit 3, effective picture segmenting circuit 4, encoder circuit 5 and rotary head and a reproducing system B composed of an encoder circuit 6, synchronizing signal adding circuit 7 and A/D conversion circuit 8. When adding a synchronizing signal, ID signal or error correct code required for recording and reproducing to a digital signal, for which encoding such as quantizing or variable length encoding is performed, outputted from the effective picture segmenting circuit 4 at the encoder circuit 5, the copyright protection information (such as the copyright information of dubbing inhibition or dubbing persmission) is stored at one part of this additional information. For example, this copyright information is stored in the ID signal of the additional information such as the synchronizing signal, ID signal or error correct code. |
