PURPOSE:To attain high speed optical exchange through high speed self-routing processing and high speed access to a buffer. CONSTITUTION:A diffraction grating is used for a cell separator 14 to spatially separate a wavelength of a pay-load and a wavelength of a header of an input optical cell 8a by setting both the wavelengths differently. The separated pay- load is inputted to an optical buffer memory 16 and the header is inputted to a control optical processor 18. Thus, all bits of the header are collated in parallel simultaneously as to all reference patterns. Furthermore, the access such as read from a pay-load memory 16 or the like is processed in parallel to attain high speed processing to routing control and a routing controller is simplified and the optical ATM (asynchronous cell multiplex) exchange is realized in which high speed operation in the ATM exchange network using an ATM used for burst multi-medium communication for a platform is realized. |
