<p>PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal electro-optical device capable of loosing the spiral structures of the liquid crystal electro-optical device in its inter- substrate spacing by providing plural walls extending in the uniaxial orientation direction of liquid crystal materials between the substrates. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal electro-optical device is composed of light transmissive substrates 101, 102, pixel electrodes 103, 104, an orienting means 105 for arranging the liquid crystal materials, etc., to a specified direction after the injection thereof and the liquid crystal materials 107. The liquid crystal materials 107 are uniaxially oriented according to the orienting means 105. The walls 106 are formed between a pair of the substrates 101 and 102. These walls 106 consist of resin materials. Further, the walls 106 have such a shape as elliptic shape, having the major axis in nearly the same direction as the orienting direction by the uniaxial orienting means when the walls are observed from the front surfaces of the substrates. Namely, the walls are provided so as to part the layers nearly perpendicularly to the plural layers of the liquid crystal materials. Then, the spiral structures are suppressed by the resins and, therefore, there is no need for narrowing the inter-substrate spacing.</p> |
