PURPOSE:To provide the generation method/device of a stereoscopic model, by which shape data of an optimum curve surface is easily and speedily selected on data of the respective surfaces of a wire frame model, the rough wire frame model generated based on mockup is speedily corrected and a stereoscopic surface model can be obtained. CONSTITUTION:A candidate surface extraction circuit 26 extracts a candidate surface fitted to a closed loop from shape data on the surface of wire frame data stored in a stored circuit 24, and an optimum curve surface selection circuit 28 selects shape data of the surface optimum for the closed loop from the candidate surface. Then, a link point judgment circuit 30 judges whether the end parts of area lines aligned or not at a link point. When they do not align, a link point correction circuit 32 corrects the end parts of the respective area lines. A data correction circuit 34 corrects curve data on the area lines so as to generate the surface model.
