The electrode is made by electrodeposition on a metal substrate from a solution containing the pyrrole monomer, an ionised salt and a surfactant, whose content by weight in the solution is less than 6000 ppm. Such electrodes may be used in rechargeable electrochemical cells having a non-aqueous electrolyte.
