Very viscose oil containing unconsolidated sands and/or other solids is pumped from an oil well without the occurrence of sand/solids blockages within the conduits, by first pumping said oil from the wellbore into the stream of a fluid circulating system. As the subsurface production pump ejects it's output into the lowest subsurface part of the circulating system, the stream of the circulating system entrains the oil and it's contaminants, acting as a carrier fluid to transport said oil to surface at an enhanced velocity which is greater than the terminal settling rate of the sands and/or other solids. The fluid circulating system extends from a surface storage tank or other fluid source down into the oil well casing and is connected to the subsurface production pump discharge at a depth in proximity to the oil reservoir, then returns to the surface storage tank or other fluid collecting system. The circulating fluid may be any fluid of convenience such as recycled produced water or oil.
