PURPOSE:To provide a speed controller for a single phase induction motor in which the noise of the motor can be reduced by suppressing the higher harmonic components of the voltage being applied to the motor. CONSTITUTION:The applying voltage of a single phase induction motor 5 is controlled through the control of switching elements Tr11-Tr22 in a single phase bridge converter 2. Frequency of the applying voltage is controlled through the control of switching elements Q11-Q32 in a three-phase inverter 4. Since the voltage and frequency are controlled individually, higher harmonic components in the applying voltage can be suppressed and thereby the noise of the motor can be reduced. |
