PURPOSE:To obtain a toner having a small particle diameter and excellent in fixability so that high image quality is attained by using a styrene-alkyl methacrylate copolymer as a resin binder and specifying the mol fraction of the styrene in the copolymer. CONSTITUTION:This electrophotographic toner is a spherical polymerized toner having <=5mum average particle diameter and contg. a copolymer of styrene with 1-4C alkyl methacrylate as a resin binder. The mol fraction of the styrene in the copolymer is 0.5-0.7. The toner particles are produced by dissolving styrene and 1-4C alkyl methacrylate in a reactive medium in which the resulting copolymer does not dissolve and carrying out polymn. in the presence of a colorant. This polymn. is polymn. between emulsion polymn. and suspension polymn. Methanol or ethanol may be used as the reactive medium.
