In order to enable the position of a patient in a bed to be changed easily, without excessive physical exertion, to avoid decubitus ulcers (bedsores), the invention calls for shafts (4a and 4b) which can be lifted upwards to be disposed one along each side of the bed. Rotation of the shafts (4a and 4b) winds a sheet (7) spread over the mattress (3) round them or unwinds the sheet. The patient is moved into the required position by coordinated rotation of the shafts (4a and 4b) and the shaft-lifting levers (5a, 6a; 5b, 6b) or by relocating another special device. |
