The invention relates to a locking device of the type comprising a sliding locking member (1) cooperating with a keeper (7), the blocking of the said locking member (1) being controlled by the rotation of a key. The device according to the invention comprises a check bolt (15) integral in terms of translational movement with the locking member (1), but movable parallel to the latter under the action of a return spring (16), the check bolt (15) comprising a projection (19) cooperating with a key-blocking member (13) which allows the key to be extracted only when the blocking member (13) is released by the projection (19), the keeper (7) containing an inner stop (20, 21) for the check bolt (15), the said inner stop being arranged in such a way that, when the check bolt (15) bears on the stop (20, 21), the projection (19) releases the said blocking member (13).
