PURPOSE:To obtain high density nonmagnetic ceramics having a high mechanical strength with a high mass productivity by burning a ceramic stock compsn. in a specified oxygen-contg. atmosphere after mixing and compacting. CONSTITUTION:Starting materials such as TiO2 and CaCO3 are wet-mixed in a ball mill, etc., calcined, pulverized and press-compacted. The resultant compact is burnt in an atmosphere contg. >=80vol.% oxygen by heating to about 1,200 deg.C at about 300 deg.C/hr rate, holding for about 4hr and cooling at about 300 deg.C/hr rate to produce the objective nonmagnetic CaO-TiO2 ceramics for a magnetic head having 880-920kg/cm<2> Vickers hardness. |
