The mechanism according to the invention comprises, on the one hand, two fixing spindles (B1, B2) integral with the bay (1) and situated in the vicinity of two opposite edges of the orifice by which the module (M) is engaged in the bay (1) and, on the other hand, two locks (12, 13) mounted so as to be rotatable about two respective parallel axes (14, 15) integral with the module (M), each of these locks (12, 13) having a concave shape (16, 17) which, in the locked position, is engaged around a corresponding spindle (B1, B2) so as to prevent any possibility of sliding by the module (M) in one direction or the other. The invention applies particularly to locking electronic modules installed on board an aircraft. <IMAGE>
