A reduction gear casing is claimed for the drive unit of a vehicle windscreen wiper, of the type incorporating a casing in the general shape of a cylindrical pot (11) closed at its open end by a cover (10) and of the type in which the casing incorporates some means of fixing to the drive unit on the structure of the vehicle body. The means of fixing (26) are associated with the cover (10) for closing the casing and are made up of constituent elements with threaded joints. The cover is pref. produced by moulding a light alloy or plastic material. USE/ADVANTAGE - The reduction gear casing is used in association with the drive unit of a vehicle windscreen wiper assembly. The advantages of this reduction gear casing are: it is less cumbersome and easily incorporated onto modern vehicles; it is of low cost; it provides a full range of drive units for mounting on different vehicles; it allows a wide range of fixing points to suit individual applications; the cover is of relatively simple shape that is particularly easy to produce by moulding and allows the simplification of the casing which can take the form of a cylindrical pot.
