PURPOSE:To provide an elevator for a vehicle where a car is not stopped suddenly by detecting the end part of a vehicle by a vehicle detecting device when the vehicle is swayed when the car is traveling or when the vehicle is stopped in an imperfect condition. CONSTITUTION:When a vehicle 3 in a car 5 is positioned, the vehicle guidance time is extended until a second detecting device 7 detects the vehicle 3 even after a first vehicle detecting device 6 ceases to detect the vehicle 3 in order to stop the vehicle 3 so that the end part of the vehicle may not be present in the vicinity of the first vehicle detecting device 6.
