SPONGY POROUS FIBER AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a fibrous material excellent in water absorbing and heat insulating properties and hygroscopicity. CONSTITUTION:This spongy porous fiber is conjugate fiber composed of a component having no porous structure and a component having a spongy porous structure at 5-60% sum total of void area in the porous component (B) based on the whole cross-sectional area of the component (B) in the fiber cross section. Furthermore, this method for producing the spongy porous fiber is provided. This spongy porous fiber is obtained by subjecting conjugate fiber composed of a component having fiber-forming properties and a blended polymer component prepared by kneading 5-20wt.% polyalkylene glycol in a polyester to the weight reduction treatment with an alkali and eluting and removing 5-40wt.% component (B).
