Process for producing a capsule from thermoplastic material for enveloping the neck of a container, - a preform of dimensions smaller than those of the neck to be enveloped being produced from thermoplastic material by injection moulding, - the preform being brought to the elastic temperature of the thermoplastic material, - the preform being expanded, - the expanded preform being moulded to dimensions which are slightly greater than those of the neck to be enveloped and - the expanded and moulded preform being cooled to ambient temperature.
