The invention relates to a method for the regeneration of a particle filter used in the exhaust line of an internal combustion engine in which fuel, introduced into a primary zone of a burner, undergoes precombustion with primary air fed in tangentially and fuel injected into a secondary zone of the said burner, free of engine exhaust gas, is burnt with secondary air injected tangentially and in which the primary side and secondary side combustion gases, after mixing in an after-burner chamber, are added to the engine exhaust gases and reburnt to a level compatible with the filter before entering the particle filter.
