The invention discloses a process for extruding and coating foodstuffs, in the case of which process the foodstuff is extruded by means of an extruding apparatus and, after the extrusion, is cut off by means of a cutting device (4, 5), the material (11), after having left the extrusion die (2), being sprayed with at least one additive before being cut off. The invention further discloses an apparatus for carrying out the process, which apparatus exhibits an extruder worm for feeding the material (11) which is to be extruded, the material being extruded through an extrusion die (2) and, after the extrusion, being cut off by means of a cutting device (4, 5), and at least one additive being sprayed, by means of at least one spraying device (7), onto the extruded material (7) before the latter is cut off. <IMAGE>
