When listening to or watching radio or TV broadcasts, for example sentences or words which are not correctly understood or image sequences which are not seen accurately enough are lost unless the broadcast as a whole is being recorded. Often, however, such sequences of broadcast information which are not registered or not registered accurately enough are of at least momentary significance to the listener or viewer, so that he would like to hear or see them once again without at the same time missing any more than is necessary of the original information still being broadcast (for example details of events or traffic announcements). With the recording of a broadcast parallel to its output in a continuously updated short-term memory, the latter consequently contains part of the broadcast just transmitted. Together with the possibility of re-outputting the content of the memory, the listener or viewer can immediately hear or see once again sequences of interest to him. The field of application is radio and TV technology.
