The purpose of the invention is to simplify the receiving, magazining and setting-up of the transverse rests in the manufacture of prefabricated concrete items on pallets in pallet circulation systems and to reduce the cycle time. The invention is characterised in that the pallets (2) pass through a first work station and a second work station, in that the transverse rests (3) are picked up at the first work station by means of a gripper device (16), are placed on a stacking plane (20) and cleaned, stacked and magazined by means of a magazining and cleaning device (1), and in that subsequently the marking-out of the new contour required and the dimensionally correct placing of the transverse rests (3) is carried out at the second work station on the pallets (2) using a large-scale plotter (25) which is additionally provided with a laying-out magazine (24) for stacking the transverse rests (3).
