PERFORATED FIBER REINFORCED PIPE

A pipe (30) for extracting gases from a landfill well comprises a series of longitudinal windings (32 and 34) of fiber reinforced windings wound for providing longitudinal strength. The longitudinal windings (32 and 34) are wound in directions opposite to and intersecting with each other, forming an interlocking network of windings and openings (36). A number of reinforcing ribs (38) extend circumferentially around the surface of the right and left hand windings (32 and 34) at equidistant positions along the surface and at each end of the pipe for providing radial stiffness. The reinforcing rib (38) at each end (40) of the pipe comprises a groove (52) extending circumferentially around the outside surface of the rib (38) for facilitating interconnection with adjacent pipes. A helical winding (42) is wound around the surface of the longitudinal windings (32 and 34) between adjacent reinforcing ribs (38) for providing longitudinal strength and radial stiffness to the pipe. The pipe comprises a plurality of perforations (44) in its surface.
