The invention relates to a protection circuit for electrical equipment, which is intended in particular to prevent electrocution in a bath tub. On the basis of the known voltage divider circuit (DE 3621528), and in conjuction with a probe line which is laid in the equipment, for example in a hairdryer, the turn-off time is considerably reduced by means of a special circuit arrangement. The relatively simple circuit design and the use of components having high reliability results in the protection circuit having high functional reliability. An advantageous development of the invention comprises automatic switching on again being carried out when the moisture inside the equipment has disappeared or has evaporated. In this way, particularly high response sensitivity and a high level of user friendliness can be achieved.
