In order to shorten the measuring time, the number of phase-encoding steps is reduced to such an extent compared to a step number required for producing a quadratic observation window, while maintaining maximum amplitude of the phase-encoding gradient, that essentially only the blood vessel to be observed is acquired in the phase-encoding device. Neighbouring regions are saturated in order to avoid artefacts. With a correspondingly low number of phase-encoding steps, blood-flow measurement in real-time representation or, with an ECG-triggered measuring procedure, in a greatly reduced total measuring time, is made possible. <IMAGE>
