<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the subject substance by esterifying a crude material containing a carboxylic acid anhydride selected from a structural isomer of phthalic anhydride, hexahydrophthalic anhydride and 3,4,5,6-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride and then imidizing the esterified compound with ammonia. CONSTITUTION:A crude material of 3,4,5,6-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride containing a carboxylic anhydride selected from a group consisting of a structural isomer of phthalic anhydride, hexahydrophthalic anhydride and 3,4,5,6- tetrahydrophthalic anhydride and used as a raw material is subjected to monoesterification with an alcohol expressed by the formula R(OH)n (R is 1 to 22C alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl or alicyclic hydrocarbon group; (n) is 1 to 3) and then the esterified compound is imidized by ammonia to provide the subject substance. A compound (e.g. dodecane) selected from 6 to 16C aliphatic, alicyclic and aromatic hydrocarbon is used as a reaction medium. The objective product is simply obtained in high purity and yield without any purification means.</p> |
