A handle assembly for a baggage cart comprises a handle member 33 attached to the top end of an inner tube 30, the latter sliding within an outer tube 20. Outer tube 20 has a number of locking holes 21 for receiving balls 56. Fixed to the lower end of the inner tube 30 is a sleeve 40 having holes 42 into which the balls can retreat. Within the sleeve is a plunger 50 with a circumferential bevel. The plunger is connected by link 60 to an operating member 10 below the handle, and is spring loaded downwardly. Upward force on the member 10 lifts the plunger and allows the balls to retreat into the sleeve, thus allowing telescoping movement. Release of the member 10 causes the bevel of the plunger to push the balls into the next available hole 21. <IMAGE> |
