The invention relates to closed profiles (1) which are bent from sheet metal and to a method of producing such profiles. The method according to the invention consists in providing the profile (1) with at least one outwardly directed point (2, 3), the outer edge of which is not bent as far as the final angle, with the result that the profile remains open upon bending the last edge and that subsequently the merely pre-folded point (2, 3) is bent to the final angle, whereby the profile closes and lastly is joined along the thus formed single joints (K), e.g. welded or lock-seamed. <IMAGE>
