The invention relates to a method for the control, suitable for the process, of an installation for coating strip-shaped material, in which a metal strip is guided through a container accommodating the molten coating material. In Figure 2, 1 denotes the strip to be coated, which runs through the container 2 upwards from the bottom. The container 2 is filled with molten coating material, for example zinc, through which the strip 1 is guided by means of the guide-through channel 3, which encloses the strip 1 on all sides. In order to prevent the molten coating material from flowing out of the container 2, the guide-through channel is surrounded by inductors 4 and 5 which generate a travelling field in a known way with which, as a result of the electromagnetic forces, the coating material is prevented from flowing out.
