<p>PURPOSE:To remove COD with high efficiency by packing an iron material into a sanitary sewage treatment tank and intermittently aerating the sewage. CONSTITUTION:The sewage to be treated is continuously introduced from a sewage introducing pipe 1 into an activated sludge treatment tank 3. The treatment of the sewage is executed by intermittently running a blower 5 to introduced the air from the blower into the treatment tank at the time of aeration and to stop the introduction of the air at the time of nonaeration. The sewage in the tank is kept stirred by operating a submerged pump 4. The mixed sludge liquid is next introduced into a settling tank 7 where the sludge is separated. The liquid is then released as treated water 8. The iron material is so packed in the treatment tank that the COD load with respect to the surface area of the iron material attains >=5g/m<2>.day and <=100g/m<2>.day. Efficient COD treatment is thereby executed.</p> |
