PURPOSE:To enable high-speed writing and to reduce the size of an optical waveguides device when the device is used in a writing device by providing plural optical waveguides in a substrate and fixing semiconductor lasers at positions corresponding to the optical waveguides. CONSTITUTION:Plural optical waveguides 2 which have larger refractive indexes to light emitted by the semiconductor lasers 1 than other parts of the substrate 3 are provided at the positions corresponding to the semiconductor lasers 1 in the substrate 3. Further, 10 optical waveguides 2 are provided at pitch of 10mum on a light projection end side. The optical waveguides 2 are larger in refractive index to light emitted by the semiconductors 1 than other parts of the substrate 3, so laser light incident on the optical waveguides 2 never leaks to other parts of the substrate 3. For the purpose, the 10 semiconductor lasers 1 are excited at the same time to emit light and then 10 signals are written on a photosensitive drum at the same time. Consequently, extremely fast writing operation is performed. |
