<p>The invention includes a gene encoding E. coli csrA, the protein encoded thereby and methods of use thereof. This gene is shown to be a negative regulator of the glycogen synthesis gene glgC and glgB as well as to inhibit or activate a large number of other genes involved in glycogen synthesis, gluconeogenesis and glycolysis. This gene can be used to alter the metabolism or functional properties of a cell.</p> |
