摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a harmful substance of unburned methanol or the like by connecting a hydrogen gas outlet port of a hydrogen storage device to a hydrogen gas introducing port of a hydrogen burner, so that it can be ignited when starting a fuel cell main unit, and supplying methanol to a methanol burner in a condition of igniting this hydrogen burner, so as to instantaneously ignite the methanol burner. CONSTITUTION:A heater of a hydrogen storage device 41 is energized and a hydrogen storage alloy is heated to generate hydrogen gas in the device 41. Then, a hydrogen gas stop valve 44, storage tank output valve 18 and a bypass valve 22 are opened, and a valve excepting these valves is closed. A fuel gas passage is switched to a side of a storage tank 17 in a three-way valve 16, an air passage is switched to a fuel gas introducing side in a four-way valve 26, and the air passage is switched to a combustion gas introducing side in a three-way valve 49. Hydrogen gas, passing partly through a hydrogen gas supply pipe line 42 and a fuel gas supply pipe line 15 to flow into the storage tank 17, is supplied to a hydrogen burner 7h. When the burner 7h is ignited, an evaporator 5 and a reaction layer 6 are heated by fuel gas, and a methanol burner 7m is ignited.
