PURPOSE:To provide an optical cell multiplexing circuit which can multiplex the leading position of an optical cell at a correct time position and further can reduce an optical power loss. CONSTITUTION:A serial/parallel converting circuit 18 converts (n) sequences of respectively serially multiplexed ATM cells into (n) pieces of parallelly multiplexed ATM cells. On the other hand, a laser oscillator 19 outputs a supershort optical pulse provided with a pulse duration T and a frequency V, and an optical demultiplexer 20 demultiplexes the supershort optical pulse emitted from the laser oscillator 19 into the (n) sequences. Thus, (n) pieces of external modulators 211-21n modulate the (n) sequences of supershort optical pulses according to the (n) pieces of respectively parallelly multiplexed ATM cells, and the (n) sequences of optical fiber delay lines 221-22n relatively delay the supershort optical pulses outputted from the (n) pieces of external modulators 211-21n respectively just for the pulse duration T. Then, a photocoupler 23 multiplexes the (n) sequences of supershort optical pulses outputted from the (n) sequences of optical fiber delay lines 221-22n. |
