PURPOSE:To restrain filing space to an irreducible minimum considering easiness to view a recorded image and to restrain the number of transfer paper used to the irreducible minimum by inhibiting both-side recording from being executed to a single transfer paper in the case of an image existence detection means detects that an image exists. CONSTITUTION:When a wide open mode is set and a both-side mode is set, whether or not a divided position is designated by utilizing a scale and the divided position is registered by turning on a copying start switch is judged. In the case the divided position is registered, a transfer paper size signal designated by an operator is outputted, and turning on the copying start switch is waited for. When the copying start switch is turned on, an original is prescanned so as to detect the size of the original. When it is judged that the image is recorded by detecting the existence of the image in an area decided by a divided position signal and an original size signal by the image existence detection means 27, copying operation is inhibited and a warning that the both- side mode can not be set is displayed on a control panel. |
