摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To realize such electrode shape as to provide a high opening rate and to improve a characteristic to hold the voltage impressed on a liquid crystal crystal so as to realize the liquid crystal display device having high image quality by reducing the margin for matching between a common electrode and drain electrodes and making possible the superposition of the common electrode and source electrodes, thereby increasing the degree of freedom in electrode shape design. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display device of a horizontal electric field driving system consists of gate electrodes 10, the drain electrodes 14, the source electrodes 15, a semiconductor film 30, the gate insulating films 20, the common electrode 16 and a protective insulating film 23 formed on a glass substrate 1 and makes image display by driving liquid crystal molecules 513 by an electric field in a direction nearly parallel with the glass substrate surface. The common electrode 16, the source electrodes 14 and the drain electrodes 15 are separated by the insulating films 20, by which these electrodes are formed as different layers. The common electrode 16 and the source electrodes 15 are partly superposed on each other via the insulating films 20, by which additive capacitances are constituted.</p>
