TEST METHOD FOR DRYING CHARACTERISTICS OF CASTABLE REFRACTORY

PURPOSE:To provide a relatively simple and practical method for testing the drying characteristics of castable refractories. CONSTITUTION:Pressure of steam generated in a structure is predicted by measuring the temperature in the structure. A sample 1 of the structure is thrown into a furnace 3 held at a predetermined temperature (200-600 deg.C) and the internal temperature of the sample 1 is measured. Temperature is read out upon finish of constant rate drying operation and the pressure of generated steam is predicted based on the temperature thus read out. This method requires about 30min for measurement of one sample and allows relatively simple mass measurement. Consequently, the temperature rise rate can be set easily and accurately for each structure when the structure of castable refractories are dried.
