PURPOSE:To previously prevent a secret document from being copied or transmitted by providing a means to prevent the secret document (or a secret part) from being read when the document (or the part) is detected at the original reader to be mounted at a digital copy machine or a facsimile. CONSTITUTION:At the original reader provided with a platen such as contact glass to mount an original 2, light source 3 for irradiating the surface of the original with light, optical systems 5-9 for forming the image of reflected light from the original 2 and image sensor 10 composed of a lot of photodetectors for the optic/electric transduction of a formed picked-up image, this device is provided with a means to detect the secret part of the original 2 and a means (light shielding means) to prevent the optical picked-up image at the detected secret part from reaching the image sensor 10. As the light shielding means, for example, the contact glass 1 is composed of a lot of cells 1a composed of any material such as liquid crystal to show electric and chemical reactions, and the secret part is shielded by controlling a voltage to be impressed to the respective cells 1a. |
