PURPOSE:To allow the mobile communication system to locate the position of a mobile station. CONSTITUTION:Base stations CS1-CSn are arranged so that a communication area of any base station is included in at least communication areas of two other base stations. Upon the receipt of a radio state inquiry message for position detection from a base station CSj, a mobile station PSi detects a reception level of a radio wave from at least three base stations and informs an exchange station XS via the base station CSj of the result of detection and an exchange station XS divides the communication area of each base station CS to locate the position of the mobile station PS based on the reception level noticed from the mobile station PS by using a database in which the position information of the divided area and a reception level are cross-referred. Thus, the position of the mobile station is located by informing the mobile station of the reception level. |
