CABLE MOVEMENT MEASURING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To provide a device capable of accurately detecting and measuring the amount of movement of a cable in a horizontal direction orthogonal to the axis of the cable without using a complicated mechanical device. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting portion 16 and light receiving portion 17 formed by optical fiber are provided in adjacent to each other on the bottom surface of a supporting part 14 on which a cable 13 is to be placed; underneath these portions, two sheets of reflecting plates 20 comprising a light reflecting portion 18 and non-reflecting portion 19 are arranged alternately side by side on a horizontal surface in such a manner that the arranging position of the reflecting portion 18 can be mutually deviated by one-half width. In this kind of device, light projected from the light emitting portion 16 hits the coordinates of point determined by the position of the cable 13 of two sheets of the reflecting plates 20; the presence or absence of light reflection at this position is received and detected by a light-receiving portion 17, by which the moving direction and the amount of movement of the cable 13 can be judged.
