LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal display element which is a liquid crystal display element not fixed with the intra-surface direction of liquid crystals and eliminates problems at the time of a high temp. to permit injection of the liquid crystals at a low temp. and does not generate flow patterns in spite of vacuum injection. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display element has a pair of substrates 1, 2 on which films having about <=200 deg.C at least either of the m.p. and glass transition point or films to lose the memory characteristic to orientation of liquid crystal molecules at a temp. above the N-I phase transition temp. of the liquid crystals are formed and which are arranged at a prescribed spacing and a liquid crystal layer including multidomains 3 held between a pair of the substrates. This process for production has a memory effect removing stage for eliminating the memory effect generated at the boundary of the films and the liquid crystal material by heating to the temp. above the N-I phase transition temp. of the liquid crystals.
