PURPOSE:To obtain a medium whose recording layer is hardly deformed at the time of forming an optically recorded part by using a halide complex of copper-pyridine or a pyridine deriv. as a recording material in a recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A preformatted layer 2 of a photosensitive material with a light shielding part 7 and a light transmitting part 8 is formed on a substrate 1 and a recording layer 3 of a halide complex of copper-pyridine or a pyridine deriv. is formed. An adhesive layer 2 and a protective layer 5 are further formed to obtain the objective medium. The complex in this medium is decomposed by irradiation with light whose wavelength is close to the peak wavelength of the absorption spectrum of the complex to form an optically recorded part. The medium is then irradiated with light which is hardly absorbed in the complex and the optically recorded information is read out by the difference in reflectance between the complex and the decomposed product of the complex. A vapor depositing or drying process is made unnecessary at the time of forming the recording layer and the recording layer is hardly deformed at the time of forming the optically recorded part.
