PURPOSE:To obtain translation having higher quality by retrieving also an adverb for modifying a translated word from a preparing dictionary and processing the adverb by using obtained information. CONSTITUTION:The syntax of an inputted Japanese sentence is analyzed (S4), English words are substituted for respective Japanese words by a syntax conversion part while retrieving a conversion dictionary, and when an adverb for modifying a translated word exists, the adverb is also added (S51). A preposition proper to expressing comparison is substituted for an 'jyoshi' (a postpositional word functioning as an auxiliary to a main word) (S52) and information expressing a certain translated word by the comparative degree is added (S53). A syntax preparing part retrieves respective words or phrases from the preparing dictionary (S61), retrieves also the modifying adverb from the dictionary based upon the comparative degree information of the translated word to obtain the comparative degree (S62). Then a correct syntax as English is prepared based upon a translated word preparing rule (S63). A morpheme preparing part executes morpheme preparing processing such as a change in a word type (S7) and a sentence translated to English is finally obtained (S10). |
