PURPOSE:To access the disk array device at a high speed as the whole and to increase the storage capacity by dividing disks (or information recording blocks of each disk) into groups by the access frequency. CONSTITUTION:With respect to the disk array device where plural disks 1 to 12 can be arbitrarily divided into plural disk groups 1 to 3, plural groups where the number of constituting disks is N are prepared (at least one of disks in the group is used for parity and the others are used for data). At least two disk groups out of plural disk groups 1 to 3 are different by numbers of constituting disks (for example, N=2, 4, and 6). The frequency in access to disks in each group is recorded. A disk 4 having a high frequency in access is loaded to the group 1 where the number of constituting disks is small (N-2), and disks 3, 5, 6, 8, and 9 having low frequencies in access are loaded to the group 3 where the number of constituting disks is large (N=6). |
