PURPOSE:To improve a processing speed by simplifying a structure of an external appearance inspection apparatus for solid formulation. CONSTITUTION:Solid formulations 1 are aligned in the same direction when they are sequentially dropped and transferred from a hopper 12 to a supply drum 10, first and second direction control drums 20, 30 which are respectively rotated at horizontal axes as centers. The aligned formulations 1 are continuously supplied at a predetermined interval to an inspection drum 40 which is intermittently driven, and the formulations 1 are held at predetermined positions while being continuously rotated in a predetermined direction by first and second inspection rollers 41, 42. An imaging unit 60 observes entire outer peripheries of the rotating formulations 1 and excludes defective ones to a defective formulation removing unit 51.
