PURPOSE:To partially erase an electrostatic latent image formed on a photoreceptor drum, to remove an unnecessary image formed on the periphery of an image area and to restrain the undesired consumption of toner by lighting LEDs whose lighting position can be optionally changed in a previously decided area by inputting the size of an original. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic charging width controller 12 includes plural light shielding cells 12a extended in a direction orthgonally crossed with the axial direction of the photoreceptor drum 10 and the erasing LEDs 12b inserted one by one in the respective light shielding cells 12a. The respective erasing LEDs 12b are optionally lighted in accordance with paper size data stored in a ROM. When a frame erasing key is operated, the previously decided erasing LED 12b is lighted in order to erase the image formed on the periphery of the paper by specified width in accordance with the size of paper detected by a size detection switch. A position detection circuit 130 respectively detects the position of the image on the drum 10 and the position of the paper separated from a timing roller. |
