PURPOSE:To provide an effective and compact system for refill of electrolyte by measuring the amount of the dissipated electrolyte through measurement of the intra-battery space capacity, and refilling electrolyte by externally introduced pressure from an electrolyte storing chamber provided in a battery terminal plate. CONSTITUTION:The top plate 3 of a fuel battery is provided with a minute flow path 14, which is equipped with a gas rate-of-flow meter, 15, and a pressure measuring pipe 16 equipped with a pressure gauge 17 to form an intra-battery space capacity measuring structure. The intra-battery space capacity is calculated from measurements given by the mentioned rate-of-flow meter 15 and pressure gauge 17, and shortage of the electrolyte is computed precisely. An electrolyte storing chamber 6 is provided above the bottom plate 2 of the fuel battery, and electrolyte is refilled from outside the battery. This electrolyte storing chamber 6 is heated by the heat given associate with battery operation to eliminate necessity for use of any special heating device, that should compact the construction. The internal space capacity of the electrolyte storing chamber 6 is calculated in the same manner as for the intra-battery space capacity, which provides still better refilling performance. |
