Process for the production of a coating on objects made of terracotta, plaster or faience, with a view to modifying their surface appearance in a decorative manner while increasing their resistance especially to impacts and to inclement weather. It includes the following three successive stages: - 1st stage: treatment of the surface of the object including at least one of the following operations: degreasing, sanding, chemical conversion, wiping or brushing - 2nd stage: electrostatic application of a heat-curable powder after an optional preheating of the object - 3rd stage: polymerisation by baking at a temperature of between 140 and 200 DEG C for a period of 5 to 30 min after the object has been brought to temperature.
