PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound, having suppressing actions on blood platelet adhesion and useful for treating and preventing arteriosclerotic and thrombotic diseases with hardly any side effects such as cardiovascular actions. CONSTITUTION:This compound is expressed by formula I [R<1> is H, F or methyl; R is expressed by formula II (R<2> is methyl, trifluoromethyl or nitro) or formula III [R<3> is F; (p) is 2 or 3; (n) is 2 or 3], e.g. (S)-(+)-6-{3-[1-(2-methylphenyl)-2- imidazolylsulfinyl]propoxy}-3,4-dihydrocarbostyril. The compound expressed by formula I is obtained by oxidizing a compound expressed by formula IV in the presence of an oxidizing agent (e.g. a combination of alkyl hydroperoxides with titanium tetraalkoxides) in a solvent (e.g. dichloroethane) at -20 to +40 deg.C. The compound expressed by formula I is capable of suppressing both the thrombogenesis and the hyperplasia of an endarterium and improving the maintenance of bloodstream. |
